It was not coincidental that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Motisvar Temple in Muscat in 2018. The visit in a way, was a celebration of a rather thrilling history. It is a history of three centuries of awesome mercantile dominance of Hindu businessmen who had settled in Muscat and grew to become a decisive political voice in the politics of Oman.
