VILLOONDI TEERTHAM One of the beaches and also one of the 64 Teerthas in Rameshwaram. While returning back to Ayodhya from Lanka, Devi Sita felt thirsty. Rama took his arrow and shot it into the sea. The place where his arrow pierced the sea, a spring emerged.
The word villoondi means “the place pierced by arrow “ and Theertham means sacred water. The place has pure fresh water in the midst of salty water everywhere.
